Vera Novak, Age 102, beloved mother, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma died on Friday, March 30 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Winneconne, WI. She was born December 24, 1909 in Deerbrook, WI to the late Louis and Anna (Pojakar) Novak. Vera lived in Deerbrook most of her life. She moved to Watertown to be near her sister. Upon retirement she moved to Omro and then Winneconne to be near her daughter. Throughout her lifetime, Vera held many different jobs. She worked as a cook, housemaid, crane operator in a defense plant during World War II, sewed in a glove factory, and lastly in a shoe factory. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for herself and family members and even Barbie dolls. The center of Vera's life was her family. She enjoyed babysitting for the grandchildren and cooking and baking buns and kolaches for family gatherings and holidays. Her love for family and spirit of giving has been passed down the generations creating a happy, close knit family. Vera is survived by a daughter Joanne (Jim) Krueger of Winneconne, a sister Arlene Simon of Watertown, 2 grandchildren Jaymie Brooks and Jeff Krueger of Winneconne, 3 great grandchildren Sarah (Brandon) Blasche of Clintonville, and Meghan (Eric) Brehmer of Winneconne, and Jeana (Kevin) Meyer of Winneconne, great great grandchildren Wyatt and Sydney Blasche, Mya Johannes, Elyse and Emery Brehmer and handsome baby boy Meyer who will join the family in July. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends she made later in life. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Heffernan will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 until the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Our family wishes to acknowledge Care Partners Assisted Living for providing Vera a cheerful and loving home and special care. Also, thank you to Assera Care Hospice for the professional and loving care she received.
