Vernon L. Berger

Vernon Louis Berger, lifelong Antigo resident, died Sat. June 14, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 67 years old. He was born Nov. 29, 1946, son of the late Vernon Louis Berger and Lois (nee Wilson) Becker. He married Sharon Ann Hawley on Feb. 5, 1966 at St. John's Catholic Church in Antigo, and she survives. Mr. Berger was a graduate of Antigo High School. He was employed by the City of Antigo, where he was superintendent of the water department. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fly-fishing, hunting, camping, and cooking out. He was a kind, funny, and gentle man who loved to help other people and get together with family. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his daughter, Kirsten Berger of Antigo; a son, Chris Berger (significant other Rachel Beilke, and her children Noah and Isaiah) of Merrill; and 2 grandchildren, Calista and Caleb. No services will be held at this time.
