It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Wallace L Pietz's passing on May 10, 2024. Wallace was born on January 16, 1938, in Tripp, South Dakota, to his parents Marie and Eugene Pietz.
After graduating from Tripp High School, Wallace bravely served his country in the United States Airforce. In 1960, he married Maureen Mulvany, and together they had three daughters: Lynn (Tony) Lukes, Susi Westphal, and Patricia (David) Weiss. Wallace was a dedicated family man and took great joy in being a grandfather to Anthony (Autumn), Joshua (Tina), Matthew (Jessie), Sydney, Griffith (Kaylin), Cullen (Jenna), and Cody, as well as a great grandfather to Derek, Gracie, Maddie, Oliver, Jazlynn, Taylor, Jax, Karley, and Avery.
Later in life, Wallace found love again and married Darlene Hackbarth on May 28, 1983. With Darlene, Wallace gained two step-children, Brian (Jen) Hackbarth and Brenda (Josh) Malitz, and three grandchildren, Gavin, Hoyt, and Malorie.
Wallace is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Kurtz, and is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene.
Together, Wallace and Darlene ran W & D Wholesale Baits in Allenton, Wisconsin until their retirement in 1993. They enjoyed their winters in Florida and spent summers at their cottage in Northern Wisconsin. Wallace had a passion for shuffleboard and fishing, and even became the Florida state shuffleboard champion during their time in Florida.
Wallace will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, as his kindness, humor, and love for his family will forever be remembered. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity in Wallace's honor.
