Werner Herbert Grosskurth, age 79, of the Town of Harrison, died Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. Werner was born on April 21, 1942 in the Town of Harrison to the late Ernest William and Caroline Johanna (Tegtmeier) Grosskurth. He was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1960. On April 24, 1965, Werner was united in marriage to Rosemary Meister in Crandon. Werner dairy farmed and raised beef cattle and worked for Frost Veneer, Home Insulation, and Northern Roofing. He was a member of the Lions Club and volunteered as a driver for eye donations. He enjoyed bird watching and nature shows. He loved anything that Rosemary cooked and helping her can tomatoes. He had the gift of gab, always up for a good visit and he will be remembered with a smile for his fun sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Werner is survived by his children: Dale (Julie) Grosskurth of Hatley, Neil Grosskurth of Antigo, Krista (Davey) Matis of Marathon City, Jeffrey Grosskurth of Town of Harrison, nine grandchildren: Rachel (Mitchel) Orlovsky, Will Grosskurth, Brittney (Dustin) Graap, Danielle Grosskurth, Brianna Grosskurth, Wyatt Grosskurth, Corrina (Jake) Sczygelski, Joseph Matis, Samuel Matis, a great grandchild Evelyn Sczygelski, a brother Karl (Janice) Grosskurth of Town of Rolling, a sister Thea Lee of Wichita, KS, and a brother-in-law Fred Henkelman of Merrill. In addition to his parents, Werner was preceded in death by sisters: Gerda Henkelman, Irmagard Bunge, and brothers, Siegfried "Gary" Grosskurth and Ernest Grosskurth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 13 at 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
