Wiley Gene Crandall, Sr.

Wiley Gene Crandall, Sr., age 79, of Antigo, passed away Tuesday of injuries sustained from an auto accident. He was born September 29, 1933 to the late Forrest and Leila (Tenney) Crandall. He married Ruthie Meister on December 3, 1983. She survives. Wiley was a graduate of Antigo High School. He went on to work in various fields including, working as a Taxi driver in Milwaukee, working in construction for Peninsula Construction of Wausau and Mid-State Contracting. He also worked in New Holstein for Tecumseh Corporation. He then owned and operated Up North Lifters with his son Wiley Gene Crandall, Jr. Most recently Mr. Crandall owned and operated Wiley's Movers. His son, Wiley, Jr. proudly continues the trade of moving buildings in Montana operating Out West Lifters. Mr. Crandall was passionate about his work, and also found time to enjoy the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He also took pleasure in playing cards and working jig saw puzzles. He was kind natured and could always recognize the goodness in people. His family, friends, and church were his dearest treasures. In addition to his wife Ruthie, survivors include his children; Roger (Sue) Richardson, Jackie (Ben) Lehto, Dorene (Curtis) Beck, Beckie (Bryan) Perry, Daniel Behnke, Chrissy Salyer, Thomas Crandall, and Wiley GeneJr.; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; his siblings; LaRayne (Russ) Hartwig, Forrest (Carol) Crandall, Bobette Barnett, Adin (Faye) Crandall, Leila (Rich) Frink, and Del Crandall, and his canine companion Coco. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sherrill Medo and a brother Guy Crandall. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Antigo Bible Church. Reverend James Reed will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until the service at the church. A memorial will be established in Mr. Crandall's name.
